When I started the program, I was in a new state, a new community with new people and no family. I came to HOPE Link in 2016, three years after the program started. It was FLI then at Hope Academy of West Michigan. I wanted to learn in the class every week. My first class was English. Over the years, I have taken classes about English, Family Dynamics, Finances, Social Media Awareness, Nutrition, Parenting, Computers; many things. The meals were for me and my family to be together. I saw families looking like mine, so I felt like we are the same; we belong here. Another thing I like is the faith in this program.
Deb and Byron show me the faith they have. From 2016 to now, HOPE Link has helped me grow and learn more. Two years ago, I helped teach the kindergarten class at Hope Academy. Last year and this year, I am the kindergarten teacher on the 2' site of Southwest Community Campus. I have grown from needing HOPE Link services to serving in HOPE I will keep coming to HOPE Link for the future and learn more. Soon, I will take my GED test, after I study the Math with my tutor. HOPE Link has helped me with classes to get confidence. I love to learn and to help other people, to be serving. This program is making a difference in our lives and our community.
